  Japanese multi-purpose thinning snips made by Koshiji. Made of high carbon steel, the cutting edges are very sharp & cut nicely. This product was originally developed at the request of a grape farmer, & is also used as bud cutting shears for bonsai & other plants because the thin tip makes it easy to work in narrow spaces. Works great for various other garden tasks such as trimming, pruning, thinning, & general purpose cutting. The handles are vinyl coated for a good grip.   Made in Japan.

  
  

  About Carbon Steel

     High carbon steel is tougher & harder than stainless steels, making it ideal & desirable for applications where durability is required & where frequent regrinding is needed. Carbon steels are more durable & have razor-sharp edges, & is easy to re-sharpen as well when the need arises.

     Since carbon steel has superior cutting qualities due to it's hardness & toughness, it's resistance to corrosion caused by moisture is low as a result. Therefore, it is important to try and keep your carbon steel blades away from moist or damp environments as much as possible. It is also a good idea to occasionally wipe the blade with a light oil, such as mineral oil from time to time. It is also a good idea to wipe the blade dry after each use.
